Master Business Management & Digital Leadership – The study for the leaders of tomorrow

Optimise your career prospects: strengthen your strategic skills, combine practice and study, explore and design the great transformation in the world of business.

Focus your Master degree on your career planning. Deepen your knowledge of the drivers and consequences of the digital transformation. Give your degree programme direction and purpose in line with your personal interests, strengths and visions by pursuing two specialisations:

- IT Management & International Sales Management

- IT Management & People and Culture

What admission requirements do I have to fulfil?

You have successfully completed your Bachelor's degree with 180 ECTS or more by the start of the Master Business Management & Digital Leadership programme and can show a business management component of 30 ECTS. The student advisory service will be happy to advise you.

We require English language skills at B2 level from non-native speakers.

What content awaits me in the Master Business Management & Digital Leadership programme?

For us, leadership is the driving force that motivates and makes people achieve common goals. Our central understanding of business management is people- and action-oriented. We understand companies and organisations as open systems that need to be in constant exchange with their environment in order to survive. Therefore, cybernetics and systems theory provide suitable analytical tools for understanding and designing organisations. You will learn both at the University of Applied Management Studies Mannheim. In addition, our teaching has a strong practical orientation. Tools for shaping the new world of work (i.e. agile methods as design thinking and scrum) and designing the major transformations (globalisation, digitality and sustainabiity) permeate all modules.

You can find an overview of the modules in the degree programme here.

More information on this degree programme can be found in the module handbook and the framework examination regulations (for download).

All modules of the programme are designed to optimally prepare you for your career development. Practical experience is, therefore, integrated into the degree programme in various ways.

In addition to the eight-week internship or practice orientated research project, a working student activity interlinked with your studies or involvement in a case study, the Career Service is at your side from the beginning of the Management Master's programme. We put you in contact with over 50 partner companies and support you with career coaching.

The HdWM professors and lecturers have many years of experience in business, which they pass on to the students in the Management Master. Real business cases enrich the teaching and are illustrated by regular guest lectures of company representatives.

You can make your studies even more practical on a voluntary basis. The Management Master can be ideally combined with a part-time job, as it is taught on only two weekdays and the semester breaks also offer free space for working student activities.

What prospects do I have after the Master Business Management & Digital Leadership programme?

In addition to the classic entry-level opportunities in the management of companies, the Master's in Business Management & Digital Leadership offers a sound competence basis for start-ups as well as for the succession of owner-managed companies. Our surveys show that graduates of our management master's programme achieve well above-average starting salaries, can choose from attractive job offers and have very good career prospects.

Specialisation: IT Management & International Sales Management

The digital transformation has reshaped marketing and sales. The combination of IT Management and International Sales Management, International Marketing and Sales makes graduates sought-after sales and marketing professionals such as Key Account Managers. Dedicated to customer centricity and customer success, graduates know how to develop brand love and leadership by effectively designing both online and offline international communication and culturally aligned market entry plans.

Specialication: IT Management & People and Culture - Designing Processes, Understanding People

The digital transformation is affecting all areas of a company. No manager can manage without basic skills in IT management. You don't have to be a programmer, but you do have to meet IT specialists at eye level in order to structure IT processes and design them to meet requirements. IT management is a fixed and integral part of both specialisations. With the lectures and modules on the topics of People and Culture, students place an emphasis on human resources management and prepare themselves for jobs such as People& Culture managers, contributing to the company’s development and culture strategy.

The HdWM admission procedure - we want to get to know you!

Managers carry enormous responsibility. Therefore, motivation, character and personality count for us more than grades. The heart of the HdWM admission procedure is therefore the individual and personal exchange about your goals, and wishes. In the first step, our student advisory service takes care of this; in the second, you get to know your programme director and he gets to know you.

Find out more about our admission procedure or apply directly via our online short application.

You can apply to study at the HdWM from one year before the start of your studies until directly before the start of the semester. We recommend applying early so that you can secure a place at the university in good time.
