03 — Curriculum
Here's how the work-study programme is structured, matched to the working reality of the baking trade.
4 hours of online lectures per week (Monday afternoon), flexible self-study, and 2 weeks of on-campus study per half-year at HdWM in Mannheim and the bakery academy in Weinheim. Semester breaks stay lecture-free.

This programme is a partnership between HdWM and the vocational schools of the baking trade in the ADB network. It's the only degree in Germany focused on the needs of bakery business successors and leaders, running on 4 hours of online lectures per week, flexible self-study, and 2 weeks of on-campus study per half-year. It's designed for professionals from the baking industry, but it's also open to those with no prior experience in the field.
Yes. With a prior qualification as a certified business administrator (Betriebswirt*in HwO) or certified sales manager in the food trade (Verkaufsleiter*in HWK), you get 79 ECTS credited, saving around 2.5 semesters. Master bakers and pastry chefs trained at an ADB vocational school get 46 ECTS credited, saving around 1.5 semesters. In both cases, your studies stay work-study, with no loss of income.
The B.A. Business Management — Bakery Management is the only degree in Germany focused on the needs of bakery business successors and leaders. It opens up a wide range of advancement opportunities in the baking industry.
