From 3 to 14 August 2026, the University of Applied Management Studies in Mannheim was delighted to once again welcome a group of students from The chonqQing College of Mobile Communication from China, for our Summer School Programme 2026. Around 80 participants travelled from Frankfurt Airport to spend two inspiring weeks with us, diving into academic learning, cultural discovery, and cross-border friendship.
The first week focused on building intercultural competence and professional skills, with sessions on cross-cultural communication, stress management, and presentation techniques led by HdWM's own professors. Participants also enjoyed a company visit to John Deere, offering valuable insight into how a global business operates on German soil. Afternoons were dedicated to exploring the region — from a walking tour of Mannheim and a visit to the Kunsthalle Art Gallery, to a guided tour of Mannheim Castle and a memorable excursion to the historic city of Heidelberg.
The second week shifted focus toward business and leadership, with sessions on Artificial Intelligence in Business, understanding how systems and groups work, and leadership fundamentals – reflecting HdWM's commitment to preparing students for the realities of a rapidly evolving business world. A definite highlight was the excursion to the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, giving participants a fascinating look into the history of German automotive engineering.
Beyond the classroom, the programme offered plenty of opportunities to experience everyday German life and build lasting connections – from a fun afternoon at Bowling Park Käfertal, to swimming in a natural lake, to an evening at a traditional German beer garden. Shared dinners each evening at Restaurant Le Lotus and Laternen gave students and staff the chance to unwind together and reflect on the day's discoveries.
We are proud to have hosted such a vibrant and engaged group, and we thank our colleagues and partners for making this Summer School such a memorable experience. HdWM looks forward to continuing this valued partnership and welcoming many more international students to Mannheim in the years to come.
