Lecturer
Prof. Dr. Amina Singh-Mehta is Professor of Social Work with international experience in practice, research, and teaching. She studied Social Pedagogy at TH Köln, completed a Master’s degree in the Netherlands, and obtained her doctorate from Swansea University (UK). She gained professional experience as a social worker in the United Kingdom, including in child and youth services and healthcare. She has also held research positions at Cardiff University and the University of Oxford and has published her research findings in international academic journals.
Her research and teaching interests focus on chronic illnesses in the fields of geriatrics and oncology, the application of qualitative and quantitative research methods, and the analysis of support and care processes for people experiencing complex health conditions. Another area of focus is the potential and challenges of digitalisation and the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare, including their implications for professional practice and the organisation of care processes.
At HdWM, she combines international research experience with practice-oriented teaching and prepares students for responsible roles in social work. In doing so, she connects academic knowledge with current developments in professional practice and promotes students’ methodological and research competencies.
