Prof. Dr. Birgit Schmitz

Prof. Dr. Birgit Schmitz is Professor of Business Education with a focus on Digital Learning Environments. She studied Business Education at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and earned her doctorate from the Open Universiteit Nederland. Her professional career includes roles as Project Manager for Education and Digitalization at the Deutsche Telekom Foundation, Research Associate in Educational Technology, and Consultant for e-learning projects.

Her research and teaching focus on digital didactics, the digital transformation of vocational education, and the professional development of teachers and trainers. She also explores the educational potential of digital learning games and innovative teaching concepts. At HdWM, she actively shapes the future of digital teaching and learning.
