Professor of Psychology
Prof. Dr. Katja Hanke is Professor of Psychology with extensive international experience in research and teaching. She studied Psychology at the University of Göttingen and earned her doctorate from Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand. Her academic career also includes research positions at National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan, Jacobs University Bremen, and GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences in Mannheim. She was also a Marie Curie Fellow.
Her research and teaching focus on social and intercultural psychology, cross-cultural research, migration, acculturation, and intergroup relations. Another key area of expertise is empirical research methodology, with a strong emphasis on developing students’ methodological and analytical skills.
At HdWM, she teaches Social Psychology, Research Methods, Statistics, Psychological Assessment, and Personality Psychology. Her teaching combines psychological theory with empirical research and practical, application-oriented perspectives.
