International Studies

With the Programme Erasmus+, the EU aims to improve the skill level, the employability of young people, modernise general and professional education as well as youth work. Since 2014, HdWM is a member of the Erasmus+ programme. It is already the second accreditation for the management university and allows HdWM students to visit Erasmus partner universities as well as to receive exchange students from other institutions until 2027.

The University of Applied Management Studies (HdWM) is always happy to welcome exchange students from our partner universities. Thank you for your interest in studying at our university.

How do I apply for a semester at HdWM?

To take part in the Erasmus+ programme at HdWM, you first need to contact the Erasmus coordinator at your home institution to express your interest. You can only study under the Erasmus+ programme if your home university has an Erasmus agreement in place with us.

After the successful completion of your application at your home university, you must then be officially nominated for the exchange program at HdWM. You can take a look at the HdWM Erasmus Key Data Sheet.

Academic calendar
At German universities, the academic year is divided into two terms: winter semester and sommer semester. The winter semester begins officially on October 1st and ends on March 31st. The summer semester begins on April 1st and ends on September 30th. 

Which degree programmes can I study?

Course Catalogues

At our university, courses are taught in English and German. Therefore, you must at least have a B2 level (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) in English or C1 in German. For all questions concerning courses and study programmes, students may contact the corresponding Erasmus departmental coordinator. How is the quality of my studies ensured during my exchange semester?

The Erasmus Charter for Higher Education 2021-2027 (ECHE) is issued by the Europea Commission. It proves that a university fulfils all requirements for a successful participation in the Erasmus programme. The University of Applied Management Studies (HdWM) received the Erasmus+ university charter for the current runtime (2021-2027) and is therefore entitled to participate in the programme. 

This document informs students about their rights and responsibilities, and what they can expect from their home institution and the receiving university or company during each phase of the programme. It is handed out to all students before their stay abroad.

Which documents do I have to hand in for my application?

Please use the following form to apply for your exchange studies at HdWM

  • Application Form for Incoming Exchange Students.
    Fill out the application form completely and carefully on computer. Make sure that all the data you provided is correct, especially your e-mail address.
  • For Erasmus+ students: Erasmus+ Learning Agreement

In addition to these documents, we also need your

  • Transcript of records from your home institution
  • Copy of the I.D. page of your passport

German Classes
Getting along in a foreign country without speaking the language can be quite challenging. Although German skills are not required in the English track study programmes, they can help in everyday situation such as shopping or while applying as a working student in a German company.

HdWM therefore offers German classes on all levels in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Mannheim.
