Teaching and Learning at HdWM

When studying at HdWM, you will acquire the necessary skills for a successful career entry and an individual career development.

In the HdWM lectures, academic knowledge and its application in real-life business settings are combined form the first semester on. As a student, you acquire top-notch academic knowledge, learn the principles of scientific work practices, strengthen your professional and interdisciplinary competences, and furthermore develop your personality. Our academic staff consider themselves as mentors of the professional and personal development of their students. Teaching and learning takes place in small, interactive study groups in the form of seminars. Digital teaching and learning techniques support you and your fellow-students, to unfold your competences individually and flexibly. 

The HdWM study model

HdWM pursues the goal, to educate performance driven students to meet the management demands of companies and by this, to actively contribute the labour market of the future. 

We prepare our students systematically for their career entry. To do so, there are practical element integrated into the curriculum in every semester, e.g. as business cases, internships, guest lectures, and a network of partner companies. At HdWM, a study model with high practical relevance awaits you. 

Studying at HdWM includes individual learning phases as well as learning in groups. Digital and in-class lectures alternate in alignment with the respective contents. By this, different types of learners are taken into consideration and supported according to their individual strengths. Teaching at HdWM

Teaching at HdWM is distinguished by its high practical relevance. As a student, you experience the practical orientation by working on real business cases, by guest lectures by company representatives, or in company visits. Discussions and working in groups ensure action-oriented lectures, internalisation of the subject matters, and teaches thinking outside the box. The necessary methodology and models are based on top-notch research. Practicing good academic style belongs to the preparation for the thesis, especially if students are unaccustomed the German academic procedures.

Teaching Library

An element of the HdWM teaching concept is to foster the information and media competence of our students. The Teaching Library is an initiative of the Normann Stassen Library at HdWM. The comprehensive series of events that include library tours, introductions to literature research, the usage of databases as well as exercises in academic research skills. The aim of the Teaching Library is to equip the students with the necessary skills to find, assess, and process information.

Our lecturers

Our lecturers consider themselves as mentors. They are equipped with extensive teaching and practical experience and align their curriculum to the needs of the labour market. 

At HdWM, we have an open door policy, which allows students to directly pose their questions about their studies to their lecturers.
