Full Professorship in Digital Transformation Management (f/m/d), Full-time

The University of Applied Management Studies (HdWM) is a private, state-recognised university accredited by the German Council of Science and Humanities (Wissenschaftsrat). HdWM is officially part of the international Global Education Network Group and a member of the Stifterverband für die Deutsche Wissenschaft.
We offer successful Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes in the fields of Management, Psychology, and Social Work. In addition, we are an established provider of executive and professional education for individuals and organisations, offering programmes ranging from short seminars to MBA degrees. HdWM cooperates with 57 corporate partners, ensuring a strong practical orientation throughout our academic programmes. Students from 28 countries are currently enrolled at HdWM, and our Career Service provides personalised career guidance and support.


This is a full-time position. 

The appointment is initially for two years, with the prospect of a permanent appointment subject to performance and mutual agreement.

For our Faculty of Business Administration, we invite applications for a

Professorship in Digital Transformation Management (f/m/d)

to commence on 1 October 2026 or at the earliest possible date thereafter.

The successful candidate will represent the field of Digital Transformation Management in teaching and research. A central aspect of the position is the delivery of courses in both German and English. We seek an individual with an established research profile in digital transformation and a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching and knowledge transfer. The successful candidate is expected to contribute actively to research, teaching, collaboration with industry, and the strategic development of the faculty.

Your Profile
In accordance with the Baden-Württemberg State Higher Education Act (Landeshochschulgesetz) and HdWM's appointment regulations, applicants must fulfil the following requirements:

  • A doctoral degree (PhD) in Business Administration, Information Systems, Digitalisation, or a closely related discipline 
  • Demonstrated pedagogical aptitude, to be assessed during the appointment process (e.g. through a trial lecture) 
  • Teaching experience in several of the following areas: 
    • Digital transformation strategy 
    • Digital business model innovation 
    • Digital business ecosystems 
    • Platform economy 
    • Digital strategy and competitive advantage 
    • Digital technologies and their organisational implications 
    • Artificial intelligence in organisations 
    • Data-driven decision-making 
    • Cloud computing and enterprise systems 
    • Internet of Things (IoT) 
    • Blockchain and emerging technologies 
    • Digital twins 
    • Data and analytics 
    • Digital governance and ethics 
  • At least five years of relevant professional experience, including a minimum of three years outside the higher education sector 
  • Excellent command of the English language 

Desirable Additional Qualifications

  • An established research and publication record in the above-mentioned subject areas 
  • Experience with digital and interactive teaching formats 
  • International academic or professional experience 
  • An existing network of companies and professional associations relevant to the field

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Teaching in German and English within the Bachelor's and Master's programmes in Business Administration, in accordance with the curriculum and applicable teaching-load regulations (Lehrverpflichtungsverordnung) 
  • Supervision of Bachelor's and Master's theses 
  • Engagement in applied research and knowledge transfer, including scientific publications and collaboration with industry partners 
  • Participation in academic self-governance, including committee work, examination boards, and quality assurance activities 
  • Contribution to curriculum development, accreditation procedures, and continuing and executive education programmes 
  • Active participation in the university's national and international network of partner institutions and companies
